¡Cedlock week 2024!
2. Sea/Boat
(Warning for bare chest, technically)
The breeze was cool, and he was grateful for such a calm morning. Things were almost unnaturally still with the quietness of the bay, that he didn't think much of it when he threw the net into the water.
Only to find that, instead of the usual, light tug from the fish, the net thrashed violently, nearly throwing him off the boat in surprise. Greylock pulled—the thing down there had to be enormous.
A voice sounded, high-pitched and whiny. But he was the only one there. Or wasn't he? He had heard stories about this place, but...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One where Greylock is a fisherman who travels to Merroway Cove (an alternate Enchancia here) and finds a grumpy cecaelia.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sea King Roland has begun to wonder where his royal sorcerer goes every afternoon. He doesn't know that his sorcerer is having his own little mermaid romance.
Full page below.

Yeah, I had a lot of fun with this one. Although I couldn't decide what color to put on the leaf as silly as that sounds.

I keep thinking that this Gojo is just like Sukuna. I truly don't see much of a difference between them beyond the human/curse point of view
#If not Sukuna then some other more palatable special degree curses like the one he just killed that talked about the new humanity#It truly looks like that I don't know#Trying to be unbiased about the pretty concepts I take personally#and trying to ignore the silly fact that Sukuna's domain is literally called temple of evil or something (makes one want to ask#so many things like why the hell does he call it such? isn't evil good for you? Isn't a species kind of thing?#Why are you adhering to human notions and conceptualisations if you seem so beyond them and think nothing of them?)#Gojo is quite terrifying from a curse point of view. He is cruel and merciless. He can't be reasoned with and he is playful. He has his fun#His powers are not much different in structure from those of a curse and he said that the power capacity of a sorcerer comes from birth#So it's ontological. It's not just skill. It's an essential differentiation. Just like curses#It's just... I don't know. It's almost as if he were a curse himself. He talks about emotions being the source of curses?#Maybe that's the difference? Was Sukuna born that way too?#I don't know. I keep thinking that he is quite idk monstrous in a very Sukuna way. He isn't terrible like Sukuna is like with the kids#But he is human after all. He does adhere to human categories. Sukuna is something else#And yet Gojo uses the kids. He draws lines and he is caring and gentle and sweet in his way#but he very much uses the kids and is a bit flippant about it. And he is human#I don't know. It seems completely intentional this similarity between Gojo and the curses and Gojo and Sukuna in particular#Sukuna seems interested in Megumi while Gojo seems interested in Itadori and idk I just keep thinking#but I'm not even know about what or how#I find this man very hard to trust haha the parallels are intriguing#I think this piece of worldbuilding has potential as well as their characterisations#I hope the author will do something with all this#I talk too much#Jujutsu Kaisen#Gojo Satoru#Sukuna

I don’t know how big the pool of sorcery actually is but we can infer that it was relatively very small even before the events of canon
After the events of canon Sorcerer numbers are gonna be in the gutters. In the course of a single year their entire fighting force has been halved, they’ve lost all their heaviest hitters, one of their strongest clans has been wiped out, jujutsu tech (Tokyo) has lost all its teachers and its principal, and the leaders of their society, the elders, have been killed.
And while some of those things needed to go there’s a reason Gojo didn’t just take them out. That is some serious upheaval especially when there’s so significant of curses slowing down!
Hell they might even get worse given the absolute traumatic events that have befallen Japan, and then not to mention there are still some powerful centuries old fighting obsessed curse users running around. And then the whole hoard of curses that were released when Kenjaku died that Yuuta didn’t manage to kill.
So it doesn’t really matter if Sukuna is defeated, sorcerers are fucked. About to be 5 guys and a doctor versus every curse in Japan

i feel like a lot of people miss the fact that at the end of the day geto always looked down on non-sorcerers the only real difference after he deflected is that he now wanted them dead.if you actually look at the jujustu world alot of people look down on non-jujustu sorcerers the only difference is that they don't want them dead.
and i feel like aside from their obvious strength one great thing about the trio of nobara, megumi and itadori is that all 3 of these character have had relationships with non-sorcerers that they think highly about because at the end of the day thats why gojo became a teacher to help the next gen be better than the one before them
this also reminds me of how in the harry potter world despite not wanting them dead a large majority of the wizarding community had a prejudice for muggles like sure they didn't want them dead but if they had the choice to suck the magic out of them and not hurt them they would.

One of the things about the Commonweal books is they will differentiate the various named species by metabolism before they tell you what anyone looks like. We get thorough descriptions for Creeks, Graul, and not much else. I know Elegants drink ethanol instead of water and are 'pretty', which is not a helpful description without an idea of what's socially constructed as pretty. I know Typicals gesture a noticeable amount and will argue about egalité till they drop, but I have no idea what lets people visually differentiate them from Regulars. I know some kind of difference exists because the differentiation happens, you've got Crane as a 'possible typical antecedent' and more than one comment on how the various types of Regulars are hard to tell apart, even for Regulars. But what that looks like? Hahahaha, no.
I say this because on my uncountable Nth reread of Under One Banner, I finally noticed a reference to rope sandals and was shocked and delighted. There aren't no visual notes, there's lots of heights for comparison to Creeks, there's enough skin color descriptions to know various shades of brown are expected, there's references to seasonal wear like hats and mud shoes, there's a few wraps and tabard-like things, there's almost enough military uniform descriptions to give me confidence the army wears plate, individually sized via magic, and there's sorcerer formalwear and Halt's knitting. But still, rope sandals! Exciting!
Now please, please, please, give me some visual hints on how to make a dozen different humanoid species distinct without going to the classic elf ears and animal-parts. Because there's absolutely no justification for either of those default fantasy tropes in this book and I want to know if Wake has a different skull shape or what. How do you expect me to draw the height chart. Please. I just want to make art that can be recognized.

Futile
cw: dragon fucking, sacrifice/hostage, futile breeding kink
The last dragon (after his eggs were destroyed), threatens to rain hell on a kingdom unless they can fix their mistake.
The closest they have to another dragon for him to try and breed is a draconic sorcerer
It doesn't work, but they end up enjoying each other enough they just keep trying 😉😈

Article stats so far as I am rewriting it entirely from scratch:
Digidevil article, the current longest article on the SRC worldanvil page, is 6728 words long. It is considered complete, at least for the foreseeable future.
Sorcerer article, the one I am currently working on and have been working on for the past ten days to rewrite from scratch, is at 6180 words and is on a fast track to surpassing the Digidevil article. I have 16-20 sections left to write and each section is usually at least 150-300 words long.
It's plausible for this article to surpass 10k if I ask a bunch of in-depth questions about their culture to Sugo.

Thinking about my previous headcanon that at first Doll was simply a copied object in Hunter's Dream, like everything else in Abandoned Workshop. 🤔 And Gehrman only did a ritual to animate her after his sanity started to give cracks, so they could take turns with leveling the Dreaming Hunters up. It would be a similar ritual as what Pthumerians use to make the dead raise, though Gehrman felt very disgusted doing this because it was disturbing a memo of Maria
But I also considered a prequel-ish idea that back then, Gehrman and Laurence used to share the roles of level-up waifus! Gehrman would power-up Dreaming hunters in more generic sense, with Blood Echoes, but Laurence would teach them magic! Like pyronancy, or just arcane! Like, there would be a FP scale and as soon as a player could get into Grand Cathedral (the gate is closed during the night of the hunt!), they'd get that opportunity! And the way Laurence would do that? Ok forget what I said earlier about Laurence and the eyes; in exchange for Insight! He is doing the research on how to cease the beasthood and evolve humanity, while Gehrman sustains the hunt with the dream, and also it helps him to "level" himself and not delve into blood thirst too much. Maybe he could teach the bolt too, but not beastly blue one - the yellow more magical one, as what Fish People maged used to use! Like, could never happen because existence of guns makes FP/magic system too extra... but also imagine if there used to be more interesting monsters to hunt back then, with which guns would not work so well? So, staff of Loran Clerics for pyromancy, one of those harpoon things for (yellow) bolt, one of those cool Pthumerian daggers for cursed magic like Logarius'...
And like, that would be cool if the way Laurence absorbed Insight was by letting a big long parasite out of his mouth (you know, that one) and biting the hunter. :3

I love that both Sith story arcs are the same despite being different. The Sith Warrior is supposed to come from a noble bloodline, the Sorcerer is a slave. And yet they’re both just being completely fought tooth and nail. It’s got nothing to do with bloodline or slavery, at the source. It’s all to do with power that someone else wants.
